Romantic Camping Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Spending the weekend away, whether a local staycation or distant escape, is the perfect way to surprise your Valentine. Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina offers the ideal laid-back lux vacation in the heart of Orange County. This year, we have a special offer for couples, friends, and families alike – 30% off new bookings Sunday 2/13, and 2/14 (must make reservation by calling – does not work with our online system). After you grab the deal, read on for a few romantic camping ideas to add to your itinerary.
Cozy up around the campfire
Get the fire crackling, grab a s’more kit from the Market, and cozy up around the campfire with your sweetheart. Share your favorite memories while making new ones.
Firepits are available on the beach (first come, first served) or can be rented at the Market and brought to your campsite – wood and all!
Market hours: Sunday – Thursday 8 am to 6 pm / Friday, and Saturday 8 am to 8 pm.
Go for a long bike ride
What better way to enjoy the outdoors than a long bike ride with your love! Rent beach cruisers from the Market and spend the day in the sunshine riding around Back Bay Loop.
Make your way to the trail on the south end of the campground, near the front gate. The loop is a 10.5-mile trail that winds around Upper Newport Bay. It has plenty of scenic spots to enjoy the view or snap a selfie! It’s the perfect romantic camping idea this Valentine’s Day.
Market hours: Sunday – Thursday 8 am to 6 pm / Friday, and Saturday 8 am to 8 pm.
Beach Picnic
Grab a blanket and lunch at Moe B’s and head to the beach for a romantic picnic by the sea. Prefer cooking? Cook your sweetheart’s favorite meal while camping and enjoy eating fireside.
Moe B’s hours: Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 3 pm.
Stargaze on the Sand
Nature has all you need. One of the simplest romantic camping ideas is to pack your camping chairs or a blanket and head to the sand for sunset viewing. Stick around for a dreamy date gazing at the stars. Look for constellations and shooting stars in the night sky. Check out this interactive sky map for what you can see in the sky!
Get out on the water
One of our go-to romantic camping ideas for adventurous couples is exploring the Back Bay on the water. Discover the neighboring nature preserve with your honey on kayaks, pedal boats or stand-up paddleboards.
Or pick up snacks and drinks and take a relaxing cruise on one of our Duffy Boats. There’s plenty of wildlife to see while exploring – the back bay is home to over 200 endangered species!
